Recess, a new art space at 41 Grand Street in SoHo, invites resident artists to use its storefront as studio, exhibition venue and grounds for experimentation. In January 2010 artists from the Bruce High Quality Foundation’s University hosted a series of classes there as a means of opening their curriculum to a wide range of audiences, inviting the public to approach their practice as it evolved. The result is an environment in which student and professor, observer and participant, are indistinguishable.
